This week Eric was officially back to work after two months "off" moving and changing diapers, followed by his orientation over the past couple of weeks. Baby and I had some time together while Eric worked his very first (16 hour) day Tuesday. I went to a one-day event for work on Wednesday, while Grandpa Zollars and Aunt Allison kindly watched Griffin until Eric got home from his second (also 16 hour) day at work.
Griffin missing his dad. Awww...
Just joking. Griffin makes this face all the time. (plus I'm not so sure he knows exactly who his dad is just yet.) Here he probably wasn't thrilled with the fact that I was taking a picture of him while he was annoyed over something trivial :)
So, on Eric's third day of work, he had to take call, which is an overnight gig. He went in at noon on Thursday, and finished Friday at 6:00 pm with not a wink of sleep. 30 hours. He came through the door, happy to see his baby, and quickly went to the baby's play gym to play along. Within two minutes, this was the picture. Griffin seems not sure what to do with the guy who stole his whale pillow and who is taking up space on his play mat. Eric was unresponsive as I took 10 pictures or so with a flash while his pager was simultaneously going off.
But Eric did wake up again to look out at the fireworks from our roof deck. We did not realize that Griffin would be so interested in them. He was staring intently at them for awhile, and cried when they stopped. You can see his expression of interest.
Here's Griffin today wearing a cute little outfit his Aunt Erin got him. I had to take a bunch of pictures because the outfit was cute and he was hamming it up. Eric is actually off tomorrow, so perhaps he'll get a second try at the play gym with some sleep behind him.
